2023 Term 4 Week 6 Newsletter
Welcome to another edition of our school newsletter. As we delve into the heart of Term 4, it is hard to believe that we have less than 4 weeks remaining of the school year!
This weeek we were very excited to have a special visit from the Anindyliakwa Language Centre, as they shared the book launch for the new book "Stories from the NT Mob". The book brings stories from communities all over the Territory to life, sharing tales in both English and in Language. The Language Centre kindly donated a book to each of our classrooms and learning spaces.
This week we also celebrated the Year 2 class for their outstanding efforts in raising funds for the Colour Fun Run! To celebrate their success in raising the most funds, the class partied in style - slip n slides, water pistols, water bomb fights and water play. They concluded their party with a picnic in the shade. Well done year 2's, a party very well deserved.
This week marksed the beginning of our Transitioning to Transition sessions for our 2024 students. We were excited to welcome the 2024 Transition students into the 'big school' and help prepare for the exciting journey ahead. Preschool Orientation sessions for 2024 are commencing in week 8, where we will be providing some time to visit the preschool space and extend a warm welcome to our youngest learners - setting the stage for a positive start to their educational journey. This year we will be beginning two Preschool classes (AM and PM) at the beginning of year, and welcoming students who have come of Preschool age (turned 3.5 years) at the beginning of each term.
A reminder to families - on Monday parents of 2024 Preschool and Transition students are invited to an information session in the Transiton and Preschool classroom at school. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about what to expect in the upcoming year and how you can best prepare and support your child through the milestone transition.
As we approach Week 8, preparations are underway for the Year 6 Graduation. It's a momentous occasion, celebrating the achievements and growth of our graduating students. If you have a child who in in Year 6 please make sure that you are checking your SeeSaw and child's bag for notes and/or information pertinent to this event.
Wrapping up an academin year means we are also planning for the upcoming year. At the end of 2024, Alyangual Area School will bid farewell to Mr. Aftab as he moves to Darwin, congratulate Ms. Eilis on her impending arrival, and wish Mr. Simon well as he heads back to Victoria. Recruitment is underway for replacement teachers and two additional clasroom teachers to support the growing number of preschool, middle, and secondary years students. We are also recruiting to our Leadership Team and are excited to be expanding our team to best support our students, our staff and our school community.
Mark your calendars for our upcoming Special Award Assembly in Friday December 1 - Week 8. Students are reminded to wear their full school uniform as we celebrate and acknowledge their achievements.
Finally, while we love the eagerness of our students to come to school, please note that there are no staff on duty prior to 7:45 am. To ensure the safety of all students, we kindly ask that you aim for your child to arrive between 7:45 am and 8 am.
I hope you all have a great weekend.
to the students who travelled to Darwin for the NT Championsips in Darwin, AFL and Soccer this year. You all did an amazing job. A HUGE thank you to Atnas and Liz from Bush Fit Mob for chaperoneing and supporting our athletes to travel off Eylandt. A shout out to Alana Jory from East Arnhem Sports for facilitating the events.
