 Community Library  

The Alyangula Area School Library also houses the Alyangula Community Library collection.

The library’s collection includes materials such as picture books, junior beginners, biographies, non-fiction and fiction for all ages. Library members also have access to our digital collection of digital books, digital audiobooks and digital magazines. The library has many activities on offer including STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Club, jigsaw puzzles and board games.

There are two computers available for use by the public during community library hours.

A printer is available for free use.

All staff, students and members of the public may borrow from the Library. Students are limited to four items each and borrowing limit is two weeks. Extensions may be granted if the item has not been reserved by another borrower. 


For community use, the library is open on;

Monday and Wednesday 6pm – 8pm

Saturday 9.00am - 1.00pm

Our Mission Statement:

Alyangula Community Library is the learning centre of the Groote Eylandt community and is the place where residents of all ages turn to for the discovery of ideas, personal enrichment, educational needs and other information. Community needs drive our services and we take a personal interest in ensuring that they are delivered in a welcoming, convenient and responsive manner. We promote student learning and ensure easy access to a balanced collection of books and other library materials that enhance and contribute to individual knowledge, enlightenment and enjoyment in the most efficient manner possible.
